Happy 236th Birthday, United States Marine Corps!

Happy Birthday, Marines!  Especially to the special Marines in my life: My husband, SSgt Michael Beck, and my brother Sgt Travis Stribling.

I don’t usually talk about my husband being in the military, as I feel like it comes off as looking for attention.  However, I am extremely proud of both these men.  Michael has been on five combat deployments, 4 to Iraq and 1 to Afghanistan.  Next year will be number 6.  He was there for the start of the Iraqi war, and there for the battle in Fallujah.  He has been shot at, and thankfully only ran over IED duds.  My brother has been on one deployment to Afghanistan, and definitely hopes to go back again.  It’s why he joined the military.

My husband has been on all of his deployments with the same Battalion, 3rd LAR Battalion.  The Wolfpack has been his home, and will be doing the next deployment with them again.

“The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!” ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

My Brother, leaving for his deployment

I miss my husband while he is gone, and I worry for his safety.  Every time the phone rings, or there is a knock on the door when he is gone, I panic and cringe.  He loves his job, and I support him 100%.  This is our life, and the only thing I would change is him not deploying to combat areas anymore.  🙂

If you know a Marine, give him or her a hug or handshake, and buy him a beer.  They have probably earned it.  Semper Fi!
